The Affinia Group is recalling aftermarket front suspension lower ball joints for the 2004-2008 Acura TL, which were sold through NAPA Auto Parts outlets. Due to a mistake in the NAPA catalogue, the installers were told to purchase incorrectly-sized stud nuts. Installation of these too-small nuts could result in the ball joint separating, leading to a suspension collapse. Affinia started the recall after receiving one complaint of vehicle damage but there were no injuries or fatalities.

Affinia and NAPA have corrected the catalogs (both paper and online) and are contacting possible part owners. All unsold inventory has been pulled from NAPA shelves. Owners can also contact Affinia at 1-815-759-7757. Less than 150 2004-2008 Acura TLs with NAPA aftermarket suspension parts are affected.

Honda has hiked wages around 30% at a Guangdong Province autoparts plant that was plagued by work stoppages last year, it was revealed Monday.

Average monthly wages for assembly line workers have increased as much as 611 yuan to 1921 yuan or around 24000 yen at the automaker's transmission factory in Foshan. An agreement was struck with labor this past March, with the pay raise taking effect the following month.

In the wake of the May 2010 strikes, the automaker lifted starting pay by 25%. Although raises have averted strikes, Honda has seen its production costs swell. The latest hike is due to a rise in prices and the local minimum wage.

Honda's Accord took 2nd place in a ranking of credibility in claiming Made in the USA. The American Made Index ranks vehicles based on the parts percentage that are made domestically, location of assembly and the amount of sales to U.S. buyers. Honda's Odyssey took 5th place.

"In today's global economy, there's not an easy way to determine just how American a car is," Patrick Olsen, Cars.com's editor in chief said. "Most cars built in the U.S. are assembled using at least some parts that come from somewhere else. Additionally, many U.S. automakers assemble vehicles in Canada and Mexico while foreign automakers have opened plants on U.S. soil."

There are all sorts of cool stuff at the fair. Avoid purchasing food there though, it's 4 to 5 times what you'll pay a mile away for the same thing in larger portion sizes and better taste. Example, a double double was 12.50 at the fair, it's less than 4.00 at In and Out
