Honda is warning its United States dealers that there will be shortages on the 2012 Civic later this summer. The ongoing parts shortage due to the Japanese earthquake and disaster along with continuing power disruptions in Japan will significantly cut the 2012 Civic production throughout the summer. The 2012 CR-V will also be delayed by a month as a result of these difficulties in production. Honda will continue making the 2011 CR-V for a longer time to make up for the delay in the 2012 introduction. Honda is currently running short on the chips, sensors and other parts supplied from Japan. Dealers will not be able to order the Fit, CR-Z, Insight and 2012 Civic Hybrid until later this year. This delay will create major sales disruptions. Acura RL and TSX Sedan/Wagon sales will also be put on hold until later this year. Honda expects to normalize overall production before the end of the year.
