Honda Canada Inc. reported combined annual sales of 141,070 units by its Honda and Acura divisions for calendar year 2010 - up 1% over 2009.  Honda division annual sales of 123,730 were up 1% and Acura annual sales of 17,340 were up 2%.  More than 91% of the combined Honda and Acura annual sales were produced at the company's assembly plants in Canada and the U.S., up slightly from last year's total. In addition, Honda's CR-V ended the year with new record annual sales of 24,930 units.

Combined December sales of 12,876 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 4% increase over last year.  The Honda Automobile Division reported December sales of 11,097 units, up 3% from last year, strengthened by sales of the new Odyssey up 100%, CR-V sales that were up 18% and record sales of Fit, up 10% for the month.  The Acura Division reported December sales of 1,779 units up 16% from last year, led by record sales of TSX that were up 113%.

"Despite a slow start for sales at the beginning of the year, we saw momentum in the second half of the year with an increase of 10 per cent and an even greater increase in the final quarter of the year," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president, Honda Canada Inc.  "We are seeing consumer confidence steadily improving and we expect this to continue into the first quarter of 2011 and beyond.

"We thank Canadians as well as our Honda and Acura dealers for their continued support and trust in our products.  And we thank the tens of thousands of Canadians who honoured the Honda Civic by making it Canada's top-selling car for a 13th consecutive year."
