typical garage of 1915, terrific looking, far beyond the typical looks of todays hole in the wall shops

The signs on the building show two addresses, and the REO dealership on the left at 4021 seems different from 4023 Autos for hire ......... garage. I'd like to know what the word is between hire and garage. Some kind of rental car and repair shop is my guess
