Car maker Honda Siel Cars India today reported a 22.83 per cent decline in sales at 4,843 units in February, over the same period a year ago. The company had sold 6,276 units in the corresponding month last year, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) said in a statement. The February sales comprised 3,668 units of its flagship sedan City, 400 units of hatchback Jazz, 512 units of premium sedan Civic, 242 units of luxury sedan Accord and 21 units of its sports utility vehicle CR-V, it added.

Combined February sales of 7,809 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 12% decrease over last year's sales.  The Honda Automobile Division reported February sales of 6,902 units, down 14% from last year.  The Acura Division reported February sales of 907 units, up 6% over last year.

"We are pleased to see that the Honda CR-V, now in its fifth year of this current generation, continues to appeal to Canadian compact sport-utility vehicle buyers with record monthly sales and an increase of 11 per cent over the previous best-ever February sales results last year," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc.  "Also, our new Odyssey minivan continues to show strong sales momentum with a year-over-year increase of 62 per cent in February.

"The reduction of Honda sales for the month mainly reflected the fact that Canadians are awaiting the arrival of the all-new Canadian-built 2012 Civic coming in late April," added Mr. Chenkin.  "We expect to see a strong sales surge as we enter the spring and summer selling seasons."

Honda's 2011 Fit won Best Value and Best Used Small Car
Honda topped Consumer Reports' annual rankings of automakers for 2011. No Honda product scores less than average in reliability and CR recommends 76% of Hondas it has tested. Recent Honda models including the CR-Z and Insight have been disappointing and have not been recommended due to their low score. The redesigned Odyssey is also down a couple of points compared to the 2010 model.

In other categories, the Honda Fit won Best Value for a Small Car along with Best Used Small Car, the Acura TSX 4-cyl won Best Value for Upscale Sedan, the Acura RL won Best Used Luxury Car, the Honda CR-V winning Best Used Compact SUV and the Ridgeline winning Best Used Pickup Truck.

A couple more pictures from a dealership of the recently arrived 2012 Honda Civic. Not much exciting to see, more of a "taller" modern version of the 2011 Honda Civic. The interior remains on par with most existing Honda products.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted February sales of 98,059, an increase of 21.6 percent compared to February 2010, the company announced today. February marks the fifth straight month of double-digit sales increases for American Honda. Year-to-date sales of 174,328 represent an increase of 17.7 percent.

Honda Division posted February sales of 87,263, an increase of 21.7 percent compared to February 2010, with sales of light trucks increasing 31.8 percent to 39,923. Honda CR-V sales of 19,096 led light truck models, increasing by 61.4 percent and breaking the previous February 2008 sales record of 15,694. Additional light truck models with increased sales included the all-new Odyssey, up 17.3 percent to 8,744; the Pilot, up 23.3 percent to 8,224; and the Element, up 35.0 percent to 1,241. Car models with year-over-year sales increases included the Civic, up 16.1 percent to 19,121; and the Fit, up 43.6 percent to 4,200. Accord was the best-selling Honda vehicle for the month with sales of 22,916, up 2.0 percent.

"Honda models available with four-wheel drive like the CR-V and Pilot saw sales increase significantly in February as people looked for ways to outsmart the bad weather," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The versatile, efficient and capable CR-V continues to solidify its position as the best-selling SUV in America by setting a new monthly record."

Acura Division sales increased 20.8 percent to 10,796. The Acura MDX led the division with sales of 3,845, an increase of 17.7 percent. Sales of the TSX increased 31.6 percent to 2,794, beating the previous February record of 2,769 set in 2007. RDX sales of 1,344 represent a 58.1 percent increase for the model.

Above stat graph from http://karakullake.blogspot.com/2011/03/jalopniks-new-format-design.html but looking at Alexa, http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/jalopnik.com pageviews are down 25% in the last 3 months.

Someone named Matt, who doesn't have an email on his blogger profile (so responding directly is not possible) and doesn't indicate if he has any affiliation with Jalopnik, left the follwing comment on this post

As it should be clear, sitemeter was pulled from the sites because it wasn't functioning. This has been widely discussed and explained. A simple look at individual post pageviews on the site would indicate this is so. Thanks for your concern, though.

Ok, you refer to plural number of places sitemeter was pulled from, Why?

Further, what correlation is there that Alexa (2nd source, you know, responsible journalism standard practive) also has Jalopnik's pageviews down 25%, and I link to their site page about 3 inches about this sentance, not hard to see what they have to say.

Oh, I'm not concerned, I'm reporting this fact as news, not concern. My stats are steadily growing like mad, and I'm guessing it's for many reasons, and only one of them is that Jalopnik has lost viewers that like my simple, easy, with no advertising format instead. Huh.

Macintosh, Granny, and Red Delicious.

How ya like them apples?
