The 2007-2009 Honda Accord Sedan
Earlier last week, the yellow sac spider sparked a recall worth 65 000 2009-2010 Mazda6 Sedans. Now Honda is telling dealers to watch out for the exact same spider on 2008-2009 Honda Accords. Honda has not issued a recall at the time but has issued a technical service bulletin for mechanics. The scenario is the exact same as the one prompting the Mazda6 recall, the spider could get into the vehicle's engine and create a blockage that creates problems. Honda does not have a record of how many times the problem has popped up but it is serious enough to issue an alert.

The spider is called the Cheriacanthium inclusm in Latin and is crawling into the system through the outside fuel tank door which do fit snugly but is not airtight. The spiders are crawling down to the vent hole into a hidden space in tiny rubber hoses linked to fuel tanks. This could cause pressurization and ventilation problems in cars which could lead to fuel leaks or fires.

If you own one of these Accords on alert, be on the lookout ...
