For those here in North America, we've always been salivating over the products Honda has to offer in Europe and Japan. Yet again, we must salivate over the new 2012 Civic MUGEN Type-R that is coming to Britain, not us. This time, the Type-R 3-door hatchback is tuned to create 256hp out of its 2.2L engine. Suspension and brake upgrading has been done to create a 30% more powerful Type-R than the original. Pricing has yet to be published. The first K20 edition of the Civic MUGEN Type-R was released in Britain last year with 20 models, 4 are currently still sitting on dealer lots and may be reworked with the new 2.2L engine.

Honda's reasoning to back out of producing the K20 was due to the growing environmental pressures and expectations. But this MUGEN model serves as homage to the highly revving, naturally aspirated engines such as the K20.
