Combined August sales of 9,509 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 26 per cent decrease over last year's sales.  The Honda Automobile Division reported August sales of 8,060 units, down 30 per cent from last year. The Acura Division reported August sales of 1,449 units, unchanged from last year, with record monthly results for MDX.

"The decline of our August sales was not a surprise," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc., "because our supply of vehicles has been significantly impacted by a shortage of key components from Japan.  We apologize to our valued customers for this disruption.  But with the worst behind us, we expect dealer inventories to steadily increase from September on. And that is why we have launched some of the best value propositions in our history.  There has never been a better time to buy or lease a Honda or an Acura."
