one of the Jack London's greatest friends and it is his sculpture of Jack London that holds the honor today of adorning the entrance to the Jack London State Historic Park up in Glen Ellen.

Unusual coincidence that I happen to have taken a photo of this trophy at Speedfest 2006, or a copy of it, since it's obvioiusly similar, but the drivers head is on the opposite side

1964 sculpture expressing the "bedroom on wheels" statement about the older generation who were sexualy charged teens in the 30's, but became hypocrites and criticized the 60's sexually charged teens.

So, why post it? I'd love to see a '38 Dodge customized like this, sort of looking like a COE

Emile Levassor; Pioneering car inventor, racer, and victor of the Paris-Bordeaux-Paris 1895 enduring 48 continuous hours of virtually nonstop driving, a feat possibly not yet repeated. Ok, it was at an average of 15 mph, but that was incredible for 1895.
This monument (raised in 1907) is likely the most grandious tributes ever erected to an automobilist.
Monument to the car
On November 26, 1907, a stone monument was inaugurated square Parodi, boulevard de l'Amiral Buix in Paris XVI °, in honor of Emile Levassor and pioneers of the industry and motorsport. The sculptor Jules Dalou represented Levassor driving the car on which he had won the race Paris-Bordeaux-Paris. This monument, funded by public subscription, was presented to the City of Paris.
(StillOutThere commented contrary, disagreeing about the monument... fact check before you post a disagreement on facts, I'm always wrong in my opinion, just ask my girlfriend... but rarely about facts StillOutThere... )

Compelling Art from Found Objects

For those of us who enjoy seeing the progression of a build you are in luck. Michael was kind enough to allow Motorfoot to publish some images by photographer Justin Craig Roth showing the stages of fabrication.

This F1 car was constructed by the Lola company and originally designed by its founder and owner, Eric Broadley for the Bowmaker Racing Team. This cartoony take on the Lola Mk4 is from the Ichiyama's Paper Cards site http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~kamaboko/ I'd show you more examples... but then your mind would be blown... and we can't have that this early in the week.

The above is from the www.nissan.co.jp/EVENT/PAPERCRAFT/&hl=en company website.
